The CAT4 and Genny4 series are designed to assist in reducing the risk of injury to personnel and utility damage by avoiding buried cables and pipes during excavation. It is designed to detect CAT4 signals - be it generated by Genny4, from the free array of Sondes (Mouse) and accessories designed to natively radiate metallic services, or provide the location of non-conductive services.

CAT4 and Genny4 Radiodetection is the most advanced CAT and Genny system to date designed to offer optimum performance, a high level of security, advanced features and competitive cost of ownership.

Faster Detection, More Detection
The CAT4 digital platform offers a highly refined, specifically designed to assist the operator, find capabilities more can find programs from the ground. CAT4 Evasion Mode™ allows the operator to control the intended dig area for Power, Radio and Genny signals, and detect programs found in a single scan. Features such as a fast peak response on a buried conductor and an operator's 'water level trace' bargraph of the zero-in point.
Genny4 Signal Generator lets you find simultaneous dual frequency signal output. Besides the familiar 33kHz for general purpose finds, the Genny4 transmits a secondary high frequency signal, designed to facilitate the location of small diameter cables such as telecom and street lighting including Spurs. For difficult location determinations, the power-boosting function also enables the find signal and deep travel and double-over programs easily.

While StrikeAlert™ warns the operator of vehicles from shallow soil, SWING™ alerts to incorrect usage habits, courage corrective action. The eC.A.T4™ and gC.A.T4™ models feature on-board data collection, logging every second of key Locate parameters to help identify training needs. The GC.A.T4 range contains an internal GPS/GNSS receiver that adds spatial data to log records showing not only how the operator was working, but also where CAT was used. All CAT4 units are quipped with Radiodetection's proprietary eCert™ technology, which provides a comprehensive assessment of the unit's hardware and software using an internet connection to Radiodetection, and can be used to extend the validity of CAT4's

Data Collection / Log
On-board memory allows data2 to be stored on a year's worth of eC.A.T4 and gC.A.T4 series products. This data can be backed up to a PC at any time, giving virtually unlimited record keeping throughout the life of the product. The data received can be analyzed, locally or remotely, to assist in ensuring compliance and identifying training needs.

eCert - Remote calibration verification
eCert offers an innovative calibration option intended for remote calibration tests as part of an annual service regimen. Active via CAT Manager PC software, eCert provides key insertion circuitry within CAT4, fast comprehensive and convenient testing, and verifies results against original factory calibration using an internet connection to Radiodetection. After passing an eCert test, this CAT4 can be printed or saved in a Radiodetection Calibration Certificate. For a complete care package, Radiodetection also offers detailed

Small Cable Fixing
Simultaneous dual-frequency and simple, intuitive methods have been superseded by CAT4 and Genny4 to assist users of CAT4 and Genny4 to locate Small Diameter cables such as twisted-pair telecom Spurs and drop-off feeds, to locate and risk a common strike.
Indicator and CALSAFE™ due to service
Annual service and calibration is key to ensuring CAT operators can operate safely and with confidence in their equipment. To support this, the eC.A.T4 and gC.A.T4 models provide a 31-day service due countdown alert at start-up. CALSafe - can be set to automatically disable active units above the end of the defined calibration interval to comply with individual company policies. The required interval between services can be customized using CAT Manager software for anything up to a year.

SWING alert
Radiodetection CATS is designed to respond extremely quickly to equalize small detectable underground signals. Radiodetection's research into underground signal detection has shown that an operator's ability to identify these embedded programs is directly affected by careless work practices such as excessive or fast rocking. Also to reduce the risks of utility strikes, the eC.A.T4 and gC.A.T4 models are equipped with Sensors that detect misuse and also alert the user with a warning stored in the data log.

Evade Mode
Evade Mode Power speeds up the pre-dig scanning process by calling Radio and Genny signals at the same time. CAT4 Avoidance Mode offers fully controlled responses, allowing operators to quickly identify embedded program and trace throughout an area. True Voice enables operators to distinguish between individual signals and programs, maximizing find speed while maintaining sound safety.

CAT Manager Software
CAT4 discovery is supported by the dedicated CAT Manager program. This Windows® PC application allows plant, fleet and site administrators to quickly upgrade CAT4, use data4 download and perform an eCert test
Map systems as software logs or export data to files in KML, CSV or XLS format. To match your working preferences, you can disable CAT Manager or enable CAT4 features like depth estimation and alerts.

Real Sound
The audio signals emitted by CAT4 are derived from detection signals. Both Radio, Power, and Genny signals can be easily distinguished from each other and from background noise, aiding in identification from target vehicles and aiding differentiation from closely cooperating vehicles.
Genny4 signal boost
Besides the familiar standard power mode, the Genny4 provides the Signal Boost feature that increases the output signal by a factor of 10, enabling operators to locate deep programs and over great distances.
